We are ALL leaders and followers depending on the context in our lives….look at the list above and ask yourself which of those skills do you need to develop in order to be a more effective leader.
How does a great leader deal with conflict from opponents?
Extermination of opponents
Excommunication/exile of opponents
Ridicule/humiliation of other
Striving to be better than opponents
Understanding of the other’s perspective
Not responding immediately but pondering the issues for 48 hours before reacting
To never stoop to the levels of their opponents….to take the moral high ground.
Understanding that there will always be opponents
Listening to what opponents say without prejudice (they might teach you something useful)
Using what they say to understand why you act as you do.
Understanding why the other's perspective works for competitors
Compete on quality, not price. Anyone can be the cheapest for the time it takes to phone up a competitor, but it is harder to dislodge the best.
Understand the targets which competitors set for you.
Leave space for your competitor to become your ally if they so choose
